Frequently asked questions
Can I use my Health Insurance?
We believe the best care happens directly between you and your healthcare provider, which is why we keep insurance companies out of the equation for visits. However, your membership is eligible for FSA and other tax-advantage health care reimbursements. Prescriptions and testing are covered by your insurance benefits.
How Expensive is Hormone Replacement Therapy?
Connected Care NP offers affordable memberships that include anytime access to Peter Rosen, FNP, your personal provider, medications and supplies delivered to your home, and all of your visits with Peter. Prices vary but generally start around $150-$200 per month depending on your unique needs.
Are Compounded Medications Safe?
Compounded medications are customized according to the prescriber's instructions. Connected Care NP partners with FDA-registered, state licensed pharmacies that comply with USP standards for sterile compounding.
When Should a Woman Start Hormone Therapy?
The best time to start hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is right when you start to experience symptoms related to perimenopause or menopause. Evidence shows starting hormone replacement therapy early, as early as in your thirties, demonstrates greater reduction in symptoms and reduced risk of several diseases.
What Is Direct Primary Care?
A healthcare model that eliminates the middleman, charging a set monthly, quarterly, or annual fee covering most primary care services, including clinical care, consultations, care coordination, and management. This approach enables providers to focus on overall wellness, reducing the barriers of fee-for-service billing.
Does Testosterone Therapy Really Help?
Many people will benefit from testosterone therapy. Testosterone naturally decreases as we age. Supplementing it can help to maintain muscle mass, bone health, and libido. Many people on TRT experience increased energy and motivation.
Are Semaglutide and Tirazepatide Safe for Weight Loss?
Yes, both medications have been extensively clinically tested and shown to be safe and effective for weight loss. However, both require close medical observation to ensure it's the right fit for you.
What Are the Risks and Side Effects of Using Semaglutide or Tirzapetide?
Some people experience gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain. If experienced, symptoms generally improve over time. Rare but serious risks include acute kidney injury, thyroid c-cell tumors, and pancreatits. Careful medical monitoring and dose adjustment reduce these risks.
Can I use my FSA/HSA Account to pay?
In regard to FSA, how one can use those funds is up to the employer’s discretion, so please talk to your HR or Benefits department for clarification on whether they will allow payment for memberships or other fees to come from your FSA funds. Direct primary care membership is not insurance and is a healthcare spending, and as the current IRS tax law stands the monthly membership recurring payment cannot be paid for with HSA funds. However, you may be able to use your HSA funds to pay for your healthcare spending that is not in a monthly payment, which of course includes medications, labs, imaging, and other charged services.
We recommend that you check with your employer or accountant to see what is allowable for spending under your current plan. There is current work being done by DPC advocates to change this legislature so that monthly membership fees can be paid with HSA funds.
You can discuss the interpretation of Section 223(c) and Section 213(d) of the Internal Revenue Code with an accountant. Section 223(c) of the law has to do with health plans and Section 213(d) of the law has to do with qualified medical expenses
