With a new year practically upon us it is again the time of year for making resolutions. One of the most common, yet difficult to achieve resolutions is weight loss. Given the popularity of the goal and the topic there is a plethora of information available on the subject, some helpful and some not so much. Even the valid information that is available isn’t always applicable or right for everyone on their weight loss journey. Whiche brings us to the first truth in weight loss, all diets can work, but not all diets are right for everyone.

Losing weight and keeping weight off is a difficult proposition that requires effort on the part of the individual, however, given the advances in science and medicine it is something that is now more attainable than ever. Weight loss will not happen by accident, it is an intentional process. With this said many people need help with losing weight. People seek help through the aid of personal trainers, dietitians, or even formal weight loss programs. Another option that is increasingly popular and effective is the use of diet medications. A newer class of medications, called GLP-1 medications, are now available for the purpose of weight loss. These medications can help to lower blood sugar, decrease appetite, and lead to significant and long-term weight loss. Some of these medications include victoza (liraglutide), ozempic (semaglutide), mounjaro (tirzepatide). These medications are not right for everyone, in those cases other diet medications such as contrave, qsymia, metformin, and phentermine can be considered. You don’t have to go on this journey alone, there is help. Please consider letting Connected Care NP help with your weight loss goals this new year. You could see your excess fat melt away this year like the snow in the spring. Happy new year!
